The Lunar New Year is a time for family gatherings, traditional foods, and vibrant celebrations. At Congee Queen, we're honored to be a part of this special time of year. One of our favorite traditions is the Prosperity Toss, also known as Lo Hei. This chaotic and joyous ritual brings families together, as we toss ingredients high in the air, wishing for good fortune and prosperity. As we gather around the table, the air is filled with the sound of 'Loh Hey!' - a chorus of excitement and anticipation. The ingredients are carefully selected, each one holding symbolic meaning. The sweet plum sauce represents abundance and prosperity, while the crispy crackers symbolize good luck and fortune. The shredded lettuce and shredded carrots add a pop of color and freshness, representing new beginnings and growth. As we toss the ingredients high in the air, the room erupts in cheers and laughter. It's a moment of pure joy, a time to let go of worries and focus on the present. The Prosperity Toss is more than just a tradition - it's a reminder of the importance of family, community, and the pursuit of happiness.
